What is a .NRW file?

NRW is a Nikon camera RAW format used by some Coolpix compacts. Opened in Nikon NX Studio or Adobe Lightroom.

Did you know
  • NRW is a lighter Nikon raw format used in Coolpix compact cameras.
  • NRW is a Nikon raw format made for Coolpix compact cameras, beginning with the Coolpix P6000.
  • It is a lighter sibling of Nikon’s professional NEF format, aimed at consumer compact bodies rather than SLRs.
  • NRW stores the unprocessed sensor data so the image can be developed later with full editing latitude.
  • Both NRW and NEF come from Nikon, but the camera class differs: NRW for Coolpix, NEF for the SLR range.
What Analyser shows you
Open camera RAW files from Sony (ARW), Canon (CR2, CR3, CRW), Nikon (NEF, NRW), Fujifilm X-Trans (RAF), Sigma Foveon (X3F), Olympus (ORF), Panasonic (RW2), Pentax (PEF), Adobe DNG and many more. Reads full EXIF and lens data, the true sensor resolution, GPS and histograms, recovers the Sony and Nikon shutter actuation count, and develops the RAW - decoding the sensor to a full-resolution image, or extracting the embedded preview when a true demosaic is not available.
