What is a .3FR file?

3FR is Hasselblad’s camera RAW format. Opened in Hasselblad Phocus.

Did you know
  • 3FR comes from Hasselblad’s medium-format cameras and digital backs.
  • The “3F” in 3FR stands for Hasselblad’s Flexible File Format, the company’s raw imaging system, with the trailing R denoting raw.
  • 3FR was introduced with Hasselblad’s H2D camera, the firm’s move into its own digital raw workflow.
  • Hasselblad Phocus typically processes a 3FR into the larger “3F” working file before editing, treating the 3FR as the untouched capture.
  • Because Hasselblad builds medium-format cameras, a single 3FR frame can hold far more sensor data than a typical 35mm-style DSLR raw.
What Analyser shows you
Open camera RAW files from Sony (ARW), Canon (CR2, CR3, CRW), Nikon (NEF, NRW), Fujifilm X-Trans (RAF), Sigma Foveon (X3F), Olympus (ORF), Panasonic (RW2), Pentax (PEF), Adobe DNG and many more. Reads full EXIF and lens data, the true sensor resolution, GPS and histograms, recovers the Sony and Nikon shutter actuation count, and develops the RAW - decoding the sensor to a full-resolution image, or extracting the embedded preview when a true demosaic is not available.
