What is a .BAND file?
A BAND file is a GarageBand music project. Created and opened by Apple GarageBand.
- Did you know
- GarageBand launched in 2004 and put music recording into the hands of everyday Mac users.
- A .band file is really a macOS package, a folder that holds the imported audio plus an XML projectData file describing the timeline.
- GarageBand projects can also be opened in Apple’s professional Logic Pro.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify DAW project files and read version, tempo, and plugin data: Ableton Live (ALS), FL Studio (FLP), Reaper (RPP), Logic Pro, Pro Tools (PTX), and Cubase (CPR).
- Depth of analysis
- .BAND is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .BAND file
- Drag a .BAND file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
