What is a .ALS file?
ALS is an Ableton Live project (a "set"). Created and opened by Ableton Live.
- Did you know
- Ableton Live launched in 2001 and reshaped electronic-music production and live performance.
- An ALS is gzipped XML under the hood, so a single saved set can expand into tens of thousands of lines of readable markup.
- The file stores only the arrangement - tracks, devices and clip references - rather than the audio samples themselves.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify DAW project files and read version, tempo, and plugin data: Ableton Live (ALS), FL Studio (FLP), Reaper (RPP), Logic Pro, Pro Tools (PTX), and Cubase (CPR).
- Depth of analysis
- .ALS is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .ALS file
- Drag a .ALS file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
