What is a .DITA file?

DITA is an XML topic for technical documentation. An OASIS standard.

Did you know
  • DITA lets technical writers reuse small topics across many manuals.
  • DITA was created at IBM to cut documentation duplication, then handed to the OASIS standards body to maintain.
  • Its “Darwin” name nods to evolution - topics can specialise from base types much as species inherit and adapt.
