What is a .FIG file?
FIG is a Figma interface-design file. Created and opened by Figma.
- Did you know
- Figma launched in 2016; Adobe’s 20-billion-dollar bid to buy it collapsed under regulators in 2023.
- Figma was built to run design tools inside the browser using WebGL, founded by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace.
- A .fig file uses Figma’s “kiwi” binary serialisation, the same compact scheme that powers its real-time multiplayer editing.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify design-app files: Figma (FIG), Sketch, Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher, Procreate, GIMP (XCF), Krita (KRA), Paint.NET, and Substance.
- Depth of analysis
- .FIG is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .FIG file
- Drag a .FIG file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
