What is a .SAT file?
SAT is a solid-model exchange file from the ACIS modelling kernel. Read by many CAD programs.
- Did you know
- ACIS is a 3D modelling kernel from Spatial Corporation used inside many CAD tools.
- SAT stands for Standard ACIS Text, the human-readable sibling of ACIS’s compact binary SAB format.
- Each SAT file opens with a header carrying the ACIS version stamp, then a sequence of entity records describing the solid model.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify neutral CAD exchange formats: Parasolid (X_T, X_B) and ACIS (SAT). STEP and IGES get a full 3D viewer - see the 3D model section.
- Depth of analysis
- .SAT is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .SAT file
- Drag a .SAT file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
