What is a .UMAP file?

UMAP is an Unreal Engine level (map) file. Created and opened by Unreal Engine.

Did you know
  • In classic Unreal Tournament a map’s filename declared its game mode, with prefixes such as DM- for Deathmatch and CTF- for Capture the Flag.
  • A .umap is an Unreal Engine level that mostly holds references to .uasset files plus lighting, spawns, volumes and landscape data for the scene.
  • Unreal Engine 5’s World Partition can spill a map’s actors into separate external files, letting several people edit the same level at once.
What Analyser reads
Identify game-engine assets: Unity (UNITYPACKAGE), Unreal Engine (UASSET, UMAP), and Godot (TSCN, TRES).
Depth of analysis
.UMAP is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
Open a .UMAP file
Drag a .UMAP file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
