What is a .TRES file?
TRES is a Godot resource file, such as a material or animation. Created and opened by Godot.
- Did you know
- Nearly everything in Godot - materials, animations, shaders, even scripts - is a Resource, saveable as readable text in a .tres or as compact binary in a .res.
- Before going open source in 2014, Godot spent years as a closed in-house engine powering work-for-hire games at studios in Argentina.
- The text-based TRES format is easy to read and diff, making Godot resources friendly to version control.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify game-engine assets: Unity (UNITYPACKAGE), Unreal Engine (UASSET, UMAP), and Godot (TSCN, TRES).
- Depth of analysis
- .TRES is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .TRES file
- Drag a .TRES file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
