What is a .TFW file?
TFW is a world file that georeferences a TIFF image for GIS use.

- TFW gives a plain TIFF its position and scale on the map.
- The world-file naming rule takes a TIFF’s extension, drops the middle letter and appends a w, giving .tfw.
- Its six plain-text lines hold pixel size, any rotation and the map coordinates of the top-left pixel.
