What is a .SCR file?
SCR is a Windows screensaver - actually an executable program.

- A screensaver is just a Windows program with an .scr name, which made them a malware trick.
- A screensaver is a normal Windows PE executable; the .scr name just tells the system to treat it as one.
- Windows launches it with command-line switches - /s to run, /p to preview and /c to show its settings dialog.
