What is a .IDEA file?
IDEA is the project and profile format of ideaMaker, the slicer made by 3D-printer maker Raise3D. It holds a sliced model and its print settings, or an exported printer or filament profile.
- Did you know
- ideaMaker writes a plain "IDEA - MAKER" signature at the start of the file, then keeps the rest in its own compressed binary; exported profiles use the sister "IEDA - PROFILE" marker.
- Analyser handles .IDEA alongside related formats such as .FBX, .USDZ, .USD and more.
- In Analyser's format library, .IDEA sits in the 3D / CAD / engineering category.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify 3D and 3D-printing files: FBX, USD/USDZ, Blender (BLEND) and Raise3D ideaMaker projects and print profiles (IDEA). OBJ, PLY, OFF, 3MF, AMF and glTF/GLB get a full 3D viewer - see the 3D model section.
- Depth of analysis
- .IDEA is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .IDEA file
- Drag a .IDEA file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
