What is a .CSR file?
CSR is a Certificate Signing Request sent to a certificate authority.

- A CSR is how you ask a certificate authority to issue your HTTPS certificate.
- A CSR follows the PKCS #10 standard and is self-signed with your private key to prove you actually hold it.
- Only the public key travels inside a CSR - the matching private key never leaves your machine.
