What is a .3DXML file?
3DXML is Dassault Systèmes’ lightweight XML format for sharing 3D models.
- Did you know
- 3DXML lets people view CATIA models without the full CAD software.
- Dassault Systèmes published the 3D XML specifications and a free Player in 2005 to let anyone view models without CATIA.
- CATIA V6 adopted 3DXML as its native format, packing the model into a zip that holds XML plus a bill-of-materials file.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify more 3D, CAD and scene files: Google Draco compressed meshes, Gaussian splats (KSplat), Universal 3D, Dassault 3DXML, DirectX .x models, Qubicle voxels, Wings3D, Autodesk Revit (RVT/RFA and templates, build version from BasicFileInfo), Siemens Solid Edge, Navisworks, legacy CATIA V4, terrestrial-scanner point clouds (FARO/Trimble) and legacy binary Visio (.vsd).
- Depth of analysis
- .3DXML is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .3DXML file
- Drag a .3DXML file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
