What is a .F3Z file?
F3Z is a Fusion 360 archive bundling a design with everything it references. Created by Fusion 360.
- Did you know
- Autodesk offers Fusion 360 free for personal hobbyist use, which has made its files a fixture of the maker and 3D-printing community.
- An F3Z bundles an assembly’s F3D along with every component, sub-assembly and reference it depends on.
- Fusion 360 designs use ShapeManager, a kernel derived from ACIS, so an F3Z carries full parametric construction history.
- What Analyser shows you
- Open an Autodesk Fusion 360 design (.f3d) or archive (.f3z) and read what it holds: the document type (part, assembly, drawing or sheet metal), the Fusion document version, the number of solid bodies and embedded appearance assets, and the thumbnail Fusion rendered into the file - shown as the model. The editable geometry is stored as Autodesk ShapeManager BREP, a proprietary format that cannot be rebuilt in the browser, so export to STL, OBJ, STEP or 3MF for the full 3D viewer.
- Open a .F3Z file
- Drag a .F3Z file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It opens entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
