What is a .3G2 file?
3G2 is a mobile video container used on CDMA phones, related to 3GP.
- Did you know
- 3G2 is the version of 3GP made for CDMA mobile networks.
- 3G2 is the 3GPP2 variant of the mobile video container, defined for CDMA networks, whereas plain 3GP is the 3GPP variant for GSM networks.
- Both 3G2 and 3GP are built on the ISO base media file format, the same MPEG-4 Part 12 foundation that underlies MP4.
- 3G2 was designed to carry CDMA-specific speech codecs such as EVRC and QCELP that do not appear in ordinary 3GP files.
- The format was tuned to minimise storage and bandwidth so that early camera phones could record and send clips over slow mobile links.
- What Analyser shows you
- Read the container, codec, resolution, and frame rate of MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM video, step through frames, and extract the audio track. Raw H.264/H.265 elementary streams (.h264/.265) are remuxed to MP4 in-browser so they play too.
- Open a .3G2 file
- Drag a .3G2 file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It opens entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
