What is a .SREC file?
SREC is a Motorola S-record file, storing firmware as ASCII hex for flashing.

- Motorola created the S-record format in the 1970s for loading code onto chips.
- Each record starts with the letter S, a type digit, a byte count, an address, the data and a checksum.
- The S1, S2 and S3 record types differ only in whether the address is two, three or four bytes wide.
