What is a .DRP file?
DRP is a project from DaVinci Resolve, the pro editing and colour-grading suite. Created by Blackmagic Design.
- Did you know
- DaVinci Resolve grew from a high-end colour-grading system into a full editor that Blackmagic offers free.
- A DRP archives a whole Resolve project for moving between machines, but stores only references, not the actual media.
- Blackmagic Design gained DaVinci Resolve by buying da Vinci Systems’ assets in 2009, then released it widely for free.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify and read video-editing project files: Adobe After Effects (AEP, AET, AEPX) - walks the RIFX chunk tree for compositions, layers, effect match-names and asset paths; Adobe Premiere Pro / Elements (PRPROJ, PREL) - sequence, media-item and clip counts plus media paths; Sony / MAGIX VEGAS Pro (VEG, VF); DaVinci Resolve from Blackmagic Design (DRP, DRT); Wondershare Filmora (WFP, WSP); and CapCut drafts (draft_content.json) - canvas resolution, duration, tracks and material counts.
- Depth of analysis
- .DRP is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .DRP file
- Drag a .DRP file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
