What is a .AZW3 file?
AZW3 (KF8) is the richer Kindle e-book format. Opened by Amazon Kindle.
- Did you know
- AZW3, also called KF8, arrived with the Kindle Fire in 2011 to allow richer formatting.
- AZW3, or Kindle Format 8, was built on a subset of HTML5 and CSS3, bringing embedded fonts and fixed layouts to Kindle books.
- For older readers it embeds a backwards-compatible MOBI version of the book alongside the newer KF8 content.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify e-book files: Kindle (MOBI, AZW, AZW3) and DjVu. FictionBook (FB2) now opens in a full reader (see Text & markup above).
- Depth of analysis
- .AZW3 is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .AZW3 file
- Drag a .AZW3 file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
